TechTalk: Vanadium Flow Battery Applications for Texas
Tuesday, May 14, 2024
4:10 PM – 4:40 PM CST
Location: Room 310, Level 3
The ERCOT power grid's market-based structure combined with an increasing push in the state to ensure grid resilience is encouraging a wave of new storage projects to be considered. One of the most intriguing models is that of ultra-high-throughput vanadium flow batteries co-located with solar, which creates the capability to deliver multiple revenue streams to operators, including delivering dispatchable solar energy on demand, provision of ancillary services, and energy arbitrage. This session will examine two case studies from deployments of vanadium flow batteries in similar deregulated markets around the world, covering key project details, use-cases and revenue streams, offering key insights into the Texas energy community from operating solar + flow battery projects in the field.
