Energy Transition Theater: Design of DC & Hybrid AC/DC Microgrids - Achieving Sure, Resilient Clean Power

Microgrids are fast becoming the center of attention in both behind and in front-of-the-meter power and grid solutions. All microgrid solutions share the common goal of providing sure and resilient clean power. But while most definitions for microgrids contain the basic physical elements of generation, conversion, control, storage, and power distribution, it is their interconnected architecture and technical interoperability that enables their success in meeting these primary goals. This presentation will provide attendees with a brief overview of various dc-coupled microgrid architectures focused on sure, resilient clean power during both grid connected and islanded modes of operation. Most importantly, it will demonstrate the use of an innovative design tool that uniquely combines the application of industry recognized vanguard microgrid technical standards with open-sourced industry OEM standardized device interoperability data models.
